Nadine de Klerk went on to make an unbeaten knock, helping South Africa to secure a stunning victory against India on the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025.
Her 89* runs went on to secure a 3-wicket victory in the clash played at Vishakapatnam. By this win, South Africa claimed fourth position in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 Points table.
After being invited to bat first, Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana opened the innings while Marizanne Kapp opened the bowling attack.
The opening duo made a solid start, posting 55 runs for the first wicket. While trying to pick up the pace, Mandhana got dismissed for 23 runs on Mlaba’s delivery.
Mlaba went on to bag the wicket of Harleen Deol for 13 runs, while Sekhukhune went on to bag the dismissal of Pratika Rawal for 37 runs.
The middle order Harman Preet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma and Amanjot Kaur went on for cheap dismissal, India tattered with 102 for 6 runs. However, Richa Ghosh and Sneh Rana went on to revive India’s innings with an 88-run partnership before Sneh Rana was dismissed for 33 Runs.
Richa Ghosh went on to make a solid stance, scoring 94 runs before being dismissed by Nadine de Klerk. With Ghosh’s knock, India went on to score 251 runs in their innings.
Chloe Tryon went on to pick three wickets while Nadine de Klerk, Marizanne Kapp and Nonkululeko Mlaba picked two wickets each at Vishakapatnam.
In the pursuit of chasing 252 runs, Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits went on to open the innings while Krant Gaud opened the bowling attack.
With the dismissal of Brits for duck and Sune Luus for for 5 runs by Amanjot Kaur. Marizanne Kapp and Anneke Bosch went on to score 20 and 2 runs before being dismissed by Sneh Rana and Deepti Sharma.
With Sinalo Jafta dismissal for 14 runs, South Africa lost 5 wickets for 81 runs. Meanwhile, Laura Wolvaardt went on to slam her fifty.
With a partnership with from Wolvaardt and Chloe Tryon, South Africa revived their innings. With the dismissal of Laura Wolvaardt for 70 runs, Proteas women went stabilise the innings.
Nadine de Klerk went on to join Chloe Tryon helped the side march towards victory. With Sneh Rana bagging the wicket of Tryon for 49 runs, de Klerk single handly went on to take South Africa towards victory.
Nadine de Klerk went on to post unbeaten 84* runs completing the chase in the 49th over of their innings.
Nadine de Klerk was named of the Player of the Match. Speaking on the post match conference, “Yeah, look, at the moment, I’m lost for words. We’ve done a lot of good things over the last couple of days.”
“Just to finish the game off, try and dig deep, give ourselves the best chance and hopefully this gives a lot of confidence to our crew going forward. I do love being under pressure. I love World Cups as well.”
South Africa Women will play their next match against Bangladesh Women on October 13 at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium.
