The Veenu Mankad Trophy is going to start in Ranchi from 9 October in Indian domestic cricket. Due to which the teams have also been announced. But among all this, a big controversy has come to light on the team selection of Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA). In fact, for the Veenu Mankad Trophy, a player in Delhi's Under-19 team was included as a backup wicketkeeper who never does wicketkeeping. After which questions were raised on the team selection and finally had to change the team.
In fact, this player was included in the Delhi team for the Veenu Mankad Trophy after pressure from a senior officer. But when the matter reached Rohan Jaitley, president of the association, he immediately condemned it and dropped the player out of the team. Let me tell you, on 3 October, DDCA announced the 23-member team of Delhi Under-19, in which Abhiraj Gagan Singh was made the main wicketkeeper. But at the 22nd of the list, an opening batsman was selected as a backup wicketkeeper. According to media reports, this player never does wicketkeeping, yet he was pressurized and given a place.
The selection meeting was chaired by Ashu Dani, but sources say that the selectors themselves were not responsible for this decision. A senior DDCA officer forced him to include this player on the basis of recommendation. In such a situation, after the announcement of the team, many DDCA officials told Chairman Rohan Jaitley directly. Jaitley investigated and found that the selection of the player was based on the recommendation rather than the merit. He immediately ordered that this player be removed from the team and a real wicketkeeper should be included in his place.
Apart from this, two more changes have been made in the Delhi team. One player has been excluded due to disturbances in documents, while the other has been removed for some other reasons, which has not been given any information about.
