Sadagoppan Ramesh, the former Indian opener, has said that the team management is putting pressure on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. They’ve been included in the ODI squad for the upcoming Australia tour. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar is uncertain about their involvement in the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Kohli and Rohit made the decision to retire from Test cricket earlier this year, prior to the England tour. They also stepped away from T20Is after guiding India to the 2024 World Cup trophy.

Ramesh spoke about their possible roles in the Indian ODI team on his YouTube channel.

“While it’s good to see Rohit and Virat return, there’s a lot of pressure being placed on them. It’s like a cooperates company that doesn’t fire you outright but creates enough pressure to make you leave on your own,” he said.

Shubman Gill was named the new ODI captain for Team India, taking over from Rohit Sharma, who had led them to Champions Trophy glory.
