Andy Flower becomes the new head coach of London Spirit

London, 4 October (Read News). Former England coach Andy Flower has been appointed as the new head coach of the London Spirit men team. He has been given this responsibility under the multi -year contract. Flower Earlier was the coach of Trent Rockets, where he completed a five -year term and gave the team the title in 2022.

This move of Flower came at a time when the US -led group invested in this franchise at Lord’s at Lord’s earlier this year.

Flower, 57, took over the coaching charge of the England team from 2009 to 2014. Recently, he was also successful in getting Royal Challengers Bangalore his first IPL title. During that time he was accompanied by Mo Bobat, who is now the cricket director of the London Spirit.

Flower said, “I am very excited by joining the London Spirit and getting a chance to work at the cricket house (Lord’s). It is a privilege for me that I am becoming a part of such a prestigious organization. I am thrilled to work again with Mo and work with MCC and Tech Titans for the first time.”

Flower replaced former Australian coach Justin Langer, with a one -year term ending with a disappointing end of the seventh place.

Cricket Director Mo Bobat said, “Getting the services of Andy Flower is a big achievement for us. His international and franchise is a great record in cricket. My former experience with him has been very positive and I am confident that we will make a new and special start with London Spirit.”

He further said, “I would also like to thank Justin Langer, who led the team with full integrity and honesty during the 2025 season.”

The London Spirit has now entered the new ownership round. The MCC (Merillabone Cricket Club) will have a 51% stake, while the remaining 49% stake will be held by the US -based Tech Titans Group. The group includes Times Internet’s Satyan Gajwani, Palo Alto Netws’ Nikesh Arora, Silver Lake’s Igon Durban and Google, Adobe and Top Officers of YouTube.
