Cameron Green is getting ready to return to bowling in time for the Ashes, confident that he will be free from any restrictions when the series begins. Cameron Green, who underwent spinal surgery last October after his fifth stress fracture, is ready to bowl in Western Australia‘s Sheffield Shield opener against New South Wales at the WACA this Saturday.

“It’s been a tough 12 months, but I’m feeling great .My body is in a good condition. The rehab has gone well. I feel stronger and fitter, and my action feels solid.

I’m expecting no restrictions for the first Test. That’s been the goal all along to be at my best for the Ashes,” Green told.

Since his surgery, Green has not bowled in any competitive matches but plans to bowl eight overs against New South Wales as he gradually builds up his workload. He is set to bat at number four for WA in the Shield match.

The all-rounder admitted that his bowling workload might need to be adjusted if he stays at No.3. Green faced challenges in the role, not managing to score more than 15 runs in his initial four innings, which included the World Test Championship final against South Africa and the opening Test against the West Indies in Barbados.

However, he later regained his form, posting scores of 52, 26, 42, and 46 in the last two Tests of the series.

Green is expected to play in the upcoming ODIs against India later this month.

Coach Andrew McDonald has stated that Green’s bowling load during the Ashes will be monitored.
