Rishabh Pant gives verdict on Rohit Sharma’s captaincy ahead of Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians match

Rishabh Pant is having a memorable IPL 2024. The DC captain made his comeback to competitive cricket after recovering from injuries sustained in a fatal car accident in 2022. Pant is fourth in the Orange Cap standings, having scored 342 runs in 9 matches. After a string of terrific performances, Pant is in contention for making it to the Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

DC will face MI in the intense clash on April 27 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Ahead of the match, Rishabh Pant has lauded Rohit Sharma.

“With Rohit bhai you can share a lot of innovative ideas. He is very open and proactive. He listens carefully and gives his feedback. He is very thoughtful, he does not act on instinct, he knows when to apply a specific strategy, he’s a very result-oriented person,” he said.

Pant further added how Sharma backs his players and knows about every player’s thought process.

“When you are experimenting, you should be open to different ideas. He understands the individuality of every player. He takes effort to know everyone so he knows how a certain player thinks and then he acts on it.

“Whether it is a good or bad part about a person, he knows how to react and cope with them, which is very important. He tries to understand the exact thought processes of players and decides whether a particular thing should happen or not,” he added.

The explosive southpaw also revealed the things one should learn from the Indian skipper.

“Since he is friendly, he trusts his people and backs them. People also trust him back and have faith in him. These are things I learnt from him,” he further stated.

In a thrilling encounter against GT, Rishabh Pant dazzled with a thrilling 88-run innings off just 43 balls to propel his team to a challenging total of 224. Pant’s explosive batting included 8 sixes and 5 fours as he shouldered the responsibility to lead from the front.

DC are placed 6th in the points table, while MI have struggled under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy. The five-time IPL champions are placed 8th.
