Mitchell Marsh Blitz Set Up Australia’s 6 Wicket Victory Against New Zealand

A solid knock from Mitchell Marsh has set up Australia’s 6 Wicket victory against New Zealand in the 1st T20I played on October 01 at Bay Oval.

His knock of 85* runs off 43 deliveries has set up the Aussies’ victory and taken a 1-0 lead in the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy.

Batting first, Tim Seifert and Devon Conway opened the innings while Hazlewood opened the bowling attack.

Hazlewood bagged the first wicket of Seifert for 4 runs while Conway was sent out for 1 run by Dwarshuis.

However, Robinson made a solid stance, Chapman got dismissed by Dwarshuis for golden duck.

Making partnerships with Daryl Mitchell and Bevon Jacobs, Tim Robinson went on to make 106* runs helping the side to post 181 runs in their 20 over innings.

Daryl Mitchell (34) and Bevon Jacobs (20) runs has been crucial for Black caps to post a decent total in their 20 over innings.

Ben Dwarshuis went on to pick up two wickets while Hazlewood amd Short picked one wicket each.

In the pursuit of chasing 182 runs, Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head opened the innings while Matt Henry opened the bowling attack.

The opener duo went on to post 67 runs for the first wicket as Head lost the wicket for 31 runs to Matt Henry.

With Matthew Short went on to score 29 runs, Mitchell Marsh went on to score 85 runs. With a cameo from Tim David, Australia went on to score 185 runs in 17th over with 21 balls to spare.

Mitchell Marsh was named the Player of the Match. Speaking at the post match conference, he said, “Nice innings, it’s important to start off a 3-match series with a win and it’s nice to contribute. We’ve had great times off-field and it’s good to continue the partnership in the middle (on his partnership with Travis Head).”

“We do have a lot of power in the batting line-up, but we need to work out things organically. I was just hoping to get out to the middle and continue batting well,” concluded Marsh. The second match of the series will be played on October 03 at same venue.
