Former domestic cricketer Mithun Manhas has become the chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The announcement was made after the annual general meeting (AGM) held at the BCCI office in Mumbai on Sunday. He was elected unopposed for this post. Union Minister Jitendra Singh congratulated Mithun Manhas through a post on Twitter. He wrote, “Mithun Manhas has officially become the BCCI president.

Rajiv Shukla has replaced his former vice -president. Raghuram Bhatt is the current president of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and former Indian spinner Raghuram Bhatt. His term as KSCA President ends on 30 September. Devjit Saikia will remain the secretary, while Prabhtej Bhatia has been appointed as Joint Secretary.

In fact, the names of new BCCI officials were finalized in the annual general meeting (AGM) held at BCCI headquarters. Mithun Manhas, former captain of Delhi’s domestic cricket team, was appointed as the new president of BCCI. Born in Jammu and Kashmir, Mithun played the most cricket matches for Delhi. He was a middle -order batsman and captained Delhi in the Ranji Trophy.

Manhas played 157 first class matches and scored 9,700 runs. He also played in the IPL for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Pune Warriors and CSK. He will be the first person from Jammu and Kashmir to become the BCCI president.

Manhas performed well for the Delhi team and confirmed its place in the middle order. In the 2001–02 season, he became the first player to score 1,000+ runs in the Ranji Trophy. He then captained the Delhi Ranji team from 2006 to 2008. Under his captaincy, Delhi won the 2007-08 Ranji Trophy, which was its 16th Ranji Trophy title.
