Former India cricketer Faiz Fazal was blown away by MS Dhoni's humility during India's tour of Zimbabwe in 2016. Faiz recalled a humble act by Dhoni where the Indian captain offered his seat to the youngsters and sat on the floor.
Faiz was stunned to see the down-to-earth nature of Dhoni despite his tremendous success in international cricket.
Faiz made his debut in the third ODI of the series and played an unbeaten knock of 55 as India chased the target of 124 with all 10 wickets to spare. Faiz opened the innings with KL Rahul, who also scored a brilliant knock of 63.
"MS Dhoni is so humble, down to earth and he doesn't make you feel that he is 'MS DHONI'. I will share an experience with you. We were returning from Harare and sitting in the lounge. MS came in and all of us offered him our seat. He just said 'nahi nahi tum log betho (you have a seat)' and he sat on the floor. He is a legend and he makes you very comfortable," Faiz said while speaking to CricketNext
The cherry on the cake was that I got the cap from MS Dhoni. Moreover, we won that match and I struck an unbeaten 55. I was happy that I made some contribution for the team. I think everything is written in your destiny. In a population of 1.5 billion people, if you get a chance to represent the country, that's just amazing," he added.
Meanwhile, the ODI was Faiz's first and only game for India as he lost his place in the team when regular players returned to the squad. Faiz, who captained Vidharbha to their maiden Ranji Trophy title in 2017-18 and defended the title in the following year, recently announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.
