Moradabad, 25 September (Read News). The Consumer Court of Moradabad on Thursday ordered The New India Assurance Company Limited to pay the damage.
Bagia Dharampur resident of Bhojpur police station area Rafi had filed a suit on 11 February last. Mo. Rafi claimed that he had insured his truck from this insurance company on 25 August 2023. Its validity was up to one year. According to this policy, if the vehicle is damaged or completely destroyed, then it is the responsibility of the insurance company to give funds. On 26 February 2024, the truck caught fire due to the spark of the high -tension line. The goods worth 30 thousand rupees in the truck were also burnt. On 23 January 2025, the insurance company said that the claim is not under the MV Act 1998 and the claim was rejected.
The claim process revealed that the truck was standing near the transformer in front of Bhojpur police station at the time of fire. The truck was being illegally filled with unlicensed e-waste. During this time, the police caught the truck under Section 269-270 on 31 January 2024. Special Public Prosecutor Mohan Vishnoi said that in this case, the consumer court has ordered the insurance company to give Rs 1 lakh 56 thousand 508 to the truck owner for the damage done in the truck.
