New York (America), 23 September (Read). Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar met US Secretary of State Marco Rubio here on Monday. Apart from this, he met with European Union leaders. Jaishankar has shared photos and brief details of the occasion on his X handle.

Jaishankar wrote in the X post, “This morning was happy to meet US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in New York. Our conversation discussed many bilateral and international issues of current concern. Continuous cooperation for progress in priority areas. We will remain in touch. We will remain in touch.” He expressed happiness over meeting European Union leaders in another post.

Jaishankar wrote in the second post, “I was happy to meet him at the informal meeting of the European Union Foreign Ministers in New York. Thank you for hosting the European Union’s Foreign Union’s Foreign Policy Head Kaja Kallas.

Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar’s conversation with these leaders took place at a time when the high -level 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) is going to start. He met Rubio at Lotte New York Palace. This meeting between Rubio and Jaishankar is a face-to-face first meeting after American President Donald Trump’s 25 percent additional tariffs on India. With this, American tariff on India has increased to 50 percent. Jaishankar will make a statement from the UNGA platform on 27 September.
