‘Abhishek Sharma Not Ready For World Cup’, Reckons Yuvraj Singh

New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Abhishek Sharma is making headlines with his aggressive batting in the ongoing Indian Premier League. He has scored 288 runs in his eight IPL outings with a strike rate of 218.18 with a highest score of 63 runs.

There are talks about his inclusion in the T20 World Cup that will start on June 02 in the USA and West Indies.

However, his mentor Yuvraj Singh doesn’t think that he is ready to represent India in the marquee event considering his experience.

“Abhishek is almost there but I don’t think he is ready for the World Cup right now,” Yuvraj Sing told Cricbuzz. His comments come ahead of Indian team selection for the World Cup, in June in the US and West Indies.

“For the World Cup, we have to take an experienced side. Obviously some guys have played for India. After the World Cup, he should be prepared to play for India. That is what he should focus on. Coming six months will be very important for Abhishek,” Yuvraj said.

Earlier, Yuvraj Singh has picked Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson as the wicketkeeper batter options for India’s T20 World Cup and identified Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah as a ‘key player.’

The Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee has to finalise the 15-member India squad ahead of the May 1 deadline for boards to submit their Men’s T20 World Cup squads. The most toughest choice will be the wicketkeeping option as there are multiple options starting from Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, KL Rahul and Dinesh Karthik.
