Dasun Shanaka’s Blitz Guides Sri Lanka to 168 Runs Against Bangladesh

The batting all-rounder Dasun Shanaka went on to make a solid knock during the 1st Match of the Super Fours of the Asia Cup 2025 on September 20 at Dubai.

They went on to score unbeaten 64 runs off 37 deliveries which included 3 fours and 6 sixes helping the side to post a decent total on Saturday’s clash.

After putting to bat first, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis made a decent start for Sri Lanka scoring 44 runs for first wicket. Taskin Ahmed went on to get the first wicket dismissing Pathum Nissanka for 22 runs.

Mahedi Hasan wiped out the remaining top order – Kusal Mendis (34) and Kamil Mishara (5) has helped Bangladesh to pick three wickets for 65 runs.

Kusal Perera and Charith Asalanka tried to stitch partnership with Dasun Shanaka who went on to smash fifty and remained unbeaten with 64 till the end of the innings.

Kusal Perera scored 16 and Asalanka contributed 21 runs for the side which helped the side to post 168 runs in their 20 over innings.

Mustafizur Rahman went on to pick three wickets while Mahedi Hasan and Taskin Ahmed went on to pick 2 and 1 wickets respectively.

Speaking at the toss, Litton Das said, “We’ll bowl first. When I saw the first leg, all the matches were won by the teams batting second. Also, unsure about the pitch. We are excited to play the game. Two changes. Sohan and Rishad not playing.”

Meanwhile Charith Asalanka said, “We would have done the same thing. It’s a used pitch. Lot of young players have come into the side since 2021 and are maturing. We are going with the same team.”
