He emphasised that their seam department has the potential to take 20 wickets, which is crucial for success in India.
West Indies head coach Daren Sammy is confident that his team possesses the necessary bowling resources to claim all 20 wickets in a Test match in India. He hopes that his players can draw motivation from the success New Zealand in India last year. New Zealand made history by becoming the first team to record a 3-0 whitewash against India in the sub-continent. However, the West Indies will now face an in-form Indian team.
“In our fast-bowling department, we have four bowlers with unique styles. We’ve reached a point where our seam attack can perform in any conditions, and that six-to-eight-metre length is effective globally,” Sammy said in a press conference.
Darren Sammy expressed confidence in the West Indies’ bowling attack, citing Shamar Joseph’s skiddy pace, Jayden’s ability to swing the ball both ways, and Alzarri Joseph’s height and bounce.
“Shamar Joseph is known for his skiddy pace, Jayden has a solid front leg and can swing the ball in both directions, while Alzarri Joseph adds height and bounce to the attack. We have confidence in them, especially considering how well they’ve been bowling over the past year,” he added.
He emphasised that their seam department has the potential to take 20 wickets, which is crucial for success in India.
“Taking 20 wickets is crucial in India. If you can’t do that, you’re at a disadvantage. Our bowling line-up, especially in the seam department, can take those 20 wickets.”
