Lucknow: Former Indian star all-rounder Yuvraj Singh believes that there is no point in selecting Dinesh Karthik in the Indian team for the ICC T-20 World Cup 2024. Let us tell you that the announcement of Team India for the World Cup is to be made in the next few days, hence at present there is a strong discussion about who should be the wicketkeeper of Team India in the World Cup. Some people have been suggesting Karthik's name but Yuvraj is not in favor of it at all and has talked about giving opportunities to young players.

The former veteran cricketer believes that Dinesh is in good form but there would be no point in selecting him in the World Cup team. Apart from this, there are wicketkeepers like Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson, who are continuously performing well. In such a situation, they want to see him in the team and he is such a player who can make a big difference in the game. Yuvraj Singh, during his conversation with ICC, also expressed his reaction on the retirement of veteran batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

He said, “Dinesh Karthik is batting well at the moment. He was also selected in the team during the last T-20 World Cup but Karthik did not get many chances to play. If DK is not a part of your playing eleven, then there is no point in selecting him in the team. Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson are young players and are performing well. I would definitely like to see Dinesh but if he does not play then I would like some young player who can make a difference in the game.”

Let us tell you that the 38-year-old is performing well in IPL 2024. In the 9 matches played so far this season, he has scored 262 runs at an average of 52.4 and strike rate of 195.52. During this period, he has scored 2 half-centuries and his best score has been 83 runs. In such a situation, he is being considered a strong contender for the T20 World.
