'It is my hometown...': Dewald Brevis reacts to joining Pretoria Capitals as most expensive player in SA20 history
South Africa batter Dewald Brevis recently became the most expensive signing in the history of SA20 after he was signed by the Pretoria Capitals for a massive fee of INR 8.3 crore. This comes after the 22-year-old made a massive impact for the Proteas with the bat in the T20I series against Australia last month.
Notably, Brevis played an incredible knock of 125 runs from just 56 deliveries in the second T20I against Australia and followed that up with an explosive inning of 53 in the third match. He left many impressed with these knocks and thus was a wanted man when his name came up in the SA20 2026 auction.
Brevis spent 3 seasons at MI Cape Town
Brevis, who had featured for MI Cape Town in the first three seasons of the tournament, reflected on his time with the franchise and expressed excitement over starting a brand new chapter in his hometown of Centurion with the Pretoria Capitals.
He also shared his thoughts on the current squad of Pretoria Capitals and named a few players he is familiar with.
He further remarked that they have a 'well-balanced' team with all-rounders like Andre Russell and Sherfane Rutherford also present.
Meanwhile, Brevis has also found a place in South Africa's ODI set-up and featured in the recent series against Australia and England.
However, he is yet to find his rhythm in the format and has so far not been that impressive. In the 6 ODIs he has played so far, he has scored 110 runs, including a highest individual score of 49, which came against the Baggy Greens in Mackay.
