Afghanistan's T20 squad has suffered a setback as seamer Naveen-ul-Haq will miss the remainder of the Asia Cup 2025 due to a shoulder injury. The Afghanistan Cricket Board medical team has not cleared him for participation while he continues his treatment and rehabilitation.
Abdullah Ahmadzai, who recently made his international debut and was previously in the reserves, has been promoted to the main squad as Naveen's replacement. This announcement came through ACB's official post on X.
Naveen-ul-Haq's T20 International career for Afghanistan includes 48 matches with impressive statistics.
He has claimed 67 wickets at an average of 18.73, maintaining an economy rate of 7.79, with his best bowling figures being 4/20.
Afghanistan kicked off their Asia Cup campaign with a convincing 94-run victory over Hong Kong in Group B at Abu Dhabi. The team's batting performance was highlighted by half-centuries from Sediqullah Atal and Azmatullah Omarzai in the final overs.
