Lucknow: Many young players have caught everyone's attention with their performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. In such a situation, there are some players who can earn huge amount in the mega auction to be held next year, while some young talent will be retained by the team. Keeping this in view, former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has given a suggestion to Punjab Kings (PBKS) and told which player they should retain. The surprising thing is that he has not taken the name of captain Shikhar Dhawan or star all-rounder Sam Curran in this matter.
Actually, in this year's auction, Punjab had made 33-year-old Shashank Singh a part of its team. Irfan believes that Punjab should think about retaining Shashank because he has shown a good game this year. Let us tell you that while taking Singh in the auction, Punjab had once talked about returning him but it did not happen and he came into the team due to a mistake but after this PBKS had given clarification on this. However, seeing his excellent performance, Pathan has given a big statement during a conversation on Star Sports.

He said, “There is going to be a mega auction next year and the way Shashank is playing, Punjab should think about retaining him. Perhaps you will be allowed to retain 4 players and in such a situation I would like the Punjab team not to release them. His journey from the glitch in the auction till now has been wonderful. He is currently 33 years old and has matured after a long time.”
Irfan's comments came at a time when the right-handed batsman played a historic innings in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens on Friday, April 26. In this match, Punjab chased the biggest run in T-20 cricket and created history. Shashank played the biggest role in making this match historic because he played an unbeaten inning of 68 runs in 28 balls. During this, 2 fours and 8 sixes came from his bat. Let us tell you that in the match, Kolkata had given a target of 262 runs, which Punjab achieved in just 18.4 overs at the loss of 2 wickets.
