Oman captain Jatinder Singh made a big mistake when he invited the UAE to bat first against winning the toss first in the Asia Cup 2025. The home batted well and posted 172/5 in 20 overs, with captain Muhammad Waseem amassing 69 runs off 54 balls.

Chasing 173 runs, Oman were under pressure from the start and were dismissed for 130 runs in 16.4 overs, giving a 42-run win to the UAE.

Jatinder accumulated 20 runs off 10 balls, with the help of 4 fours, but the four other top-order batters failed to contribute. Aamir Kaleem (2), Hammad Mirza (5), Wasim Ali (1) and Shah Faisal (9) were the walking wickets.

Aryan Bisht (24), Vinayak Shukla (20) and Jiten Ramanandi (13) got starts but couldn’t carry on.

Shakeel Ahmed showed some resistance in the end, but it was not enough. Junaid Siddique was the standout performer with the ball for the UAE. He took 4 wickets and conceded just 23 runs from his four overs.

Haider Ali and Muhammad Jawadullah claimed two wickets each.
