Bangladesh may have a slight advantage, having already acclimatised to the conditions in Abu Dhabi.
Bangladesh are set to face Sri Lanka in the fifth T20I of the Asia Cup 2025 Group B on Saturday, 13th September, at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, with the match scheduled to begin at 8:00 PM IST.
Sri Lanka will begin their Asia Cup 2025 journey, while Bangladesh enter the match full of confidence after a commanding seven-wicket victory over Hong Kong in their opening game.
Bangladesh may have a slight advantage, having already acclimatised to the conditions in Abu Dhabi. In their opening encounter, they successfully chased down a target of 144, with captain Litton Das playing a key role by scoring a composed half-century, while the middle order also made valuable contributions.
However, Bangladesh’s bowling will face a tougher test against Sri Lanka. They must execute well during the powerplay and the death overs. Spinners Mahedi Hasan and Rishad Hossain will be crucial on the slower track at Sheikh Zayed Stadium.
Sri Lanka’s prospects are bolstered by the return of all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, who enhances both their bowling and lower-order batting. Sri Lanka’s strategy will focus on controlling the middle overs with spin and finishing the game strongly. Pacer Dushmantha Chameera will play a critical role in making early breakthroughs against Bangladesh’s top order.
The two teams have faced off in 20 T20Is, with Sri Lanka winning 12 times and Bangladesh coming out on top in 8 encounters.
