Bumrah was ordinary in his first over but found his line and length in the second.
Jasprit Bumrah took some time to return to his top form in India’s first match of the Asia Cup 2025 against the UAE. Alishan Sharafu was going after bowlers before the Indian speedster bowled a perfect yorker to rattle the stumps.
He scored 22 runs off 17 balls, laced with 3 fours and 1 six. Bumrah was ordinary in his first over but found his line and length in the second. Sharafu had no answer to Bumrah’s brilliance and couldn’t bring the bat down on time as the ball disturbed the bails.
Varun Chakravarthy, the mystery spinner, got into the act and got rid of Muhammad Zohaib, who managed 2 runs. Earlier, India captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and elected to bowl first in Dubai. He made the decision, keeping in mind the dew factor.
The team management trusted Sanju Samson, and the wicket-keeper was included in the playing XI for the campaign opener. His batting spot was not revealed, and there is a possibility of him batting in the middle order.
Shubman Gill, who returned to the team after a year, was named the vice-captain for the Continental Cup and will open the innings with Abhishek Sharma.
