Delhi: Former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja has questioned the need to include Jaspreet Bumrah in the playing XI against UAE in T20 Asia Cup 2025. He said that when Bumrah is usually kept handle, then what is the point of feeding him in such matches.

“Why do you want to feed Bumrah tomorrow, brother? When he is always wrapped in cotton, now it is also needed against a team like UAE? Either do not save it at all, and if you want to save it, then there is a chance in such matches. Logic says this, but we never have a logic work. If I play tomorrow, I will go on strike in the Network,” Said.

Bumrah has returned after a long break

Bumrah played the last T20I match in the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup, where he bowled brilliantly against South Africa. He was also elected ‘Player of the Tournament’. After this, he was busy in the Test series and his fitness was taken special care of.

He could not play due to a back injury in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He returned through IPL 2025.

Previous demonstration against UAE

In the 2016 T20 Asia Cup, Bumrah played in the only T20 match between India and UAE. He dismissed Mohammad Shahzad in that match and gave 23 runs in 4 overs.

If you do not play Bumrah, then who?

According to PTI report, Bumrah was not present in the alternative practice session held on 9 September before the match against UAE. In the press conference of the captains, Suryakumar Yadav said that India will land on the field with a strong playing XI and is not taking UAE lightly.

However, before the big match against Pakistan on September 14, Bumrah is also required to get a little match practice.

If Bumrah is rested, Harshit Rana is present as an alternative to fast bowling. Apart from this, India can get off with three fast bowlers, including Arshdeep Singh and all -rounder Hardik Pandya, which will also give the team a chance to play three spinners.
