In the Asia Cup 2025 opener between Afghanistan and Hong Kong, which is being played in Abu Dhabi, Karim Janat took an exceptional grab to help his teammate Noor Ahmad get rid of Kinchit Shah. Chasing the mammoth total of 189, when Hong Kong lost four batters at a score of 22, and the responsibility was on Kinchit and top-order batter Babar Hayat to showcase their fighting spirit to help the team get close to the total. However, both batters looked timid as they scored runs at an extremely low pace.
In the 10th over of the innings, Noor Ahmad came to bowl his second over and struggled. Kinchit was caught by Janat, who was deployed at the backwards square leg and displayed a diving effort. Shah went back to the pavilion after scoring only six runs off 10 balls.

Afghanistan is heading towards a convincing victory
After the first half of the second innings, Afghanistan are in a comfortable position as they have dominated Hong Kong so far. After playing 13 overs, Hong Kong are 63/6 and confronting the Afghan side’s disciplined bowling, only Babar Hayat has succeeded in scoring in double digits for the associate nation.
In the initial phase of the game, the Afghan side struggled to have a decent start while batting, but Sediqullah Atal (unbeaten 73 off 52) and Azmatullah Omarzai (53 off 21) showcased their batting mettle to help their team post a massive total of 188/6 in their 20 overs. Following the sensational batting effort, Afghanistan’s bowling attack has looked confident to keep Hong Kong out of the game. Fazalhaq Farooqi, Omarzai, Noor Ahmad, and Gulbadin Naib have got one wicket apiece.
