Delhi: When the 15 -member team of Team India was announced for the Asia Cup 2025, the fans received a major setback. Middle order batsman Shreyas Iyer was not named in this list. Iyer performed brilliantly in the 2025 Champions Trophy, yet he did not find a place in the team. However, he has been given the captaincy of India A against Australia A for two informal four -day Test series.

Shreyas Iyer played an important role in the middle overs for India in the Champions Trophy. He scored a total of 243 runs in five innings at an average of 48.60 and also scored two half -centuries. He was India’s top scorer in the tournament.

Shreyas said to be out of Asia Cup team

In a podcast show, Iyer expressed his displeasure over being out of the team. He said, “It disappoints more when you feel that you are entitled to be in the playing XI. Then it is a bit difficult. But, when another player is doing well and performing continuously for the team, you support it. Finally, the team’s victory is most important. When the team wins, everyone is happy.”

He further said, “I always talk about honesty. Even if you do not get a chance, you should keep doing your work honestly. It should not happen only when someone is watching. When no one is watching, it is still real honesty to work hard.”

Shreyas said that winning the Champions Trophy was the most special moment for him. He told for preparation for a comeback, “The performance done on your ground is the result of your off-field preparation. If your preparation is strong, then the performance comes in the third match after failing in one or two matches. I have experienced this myself.”
