The home side’s victory was built on the brilliance of spinner Nasum Ahmed, who delivered a decisive spell of 3-21, dismantling the Dutch top order. His efforts restricted the visitors to just 103 all out in 17.3 overs, a total that proved nowhere near enough against a confident Bangladesh batting line-up.
In reply, Bangladesh raced to their target in just 13.1 overs, underlining their dominance and taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. It was their third consecutive T20 series win, a streak that further boosts their preparations for the T20 Asia Cup, which begins on September 9 in the United Arab Emirates.
Opener Tanzid Hasan was the star with the bat, compiling a composed 54 not out. He shared an unbeaten 64-run stand with captain Litton Das, who finished on 18, to guide Bangladesh to victory after an explosive start from Parvez Hossain Emon, who contributed 23 off 21 balls.
But it was the bowlers who set the tone for Bangladesh’s success. Making his return to the side as one of two changes, Nasum struck twice in quick succession during the third over, instantly swinging the momentum in the hosts’ favour. Dutch skipper Scott Edwards survived the hat-trick ball but could not impose himself, falling for just nine against left-arm quick Mustafizur Rahman.
Opener Vikramjit Singh was briefly threatened with 24 from 17 deliveries before becoming a victim of pacer Taskin Ahmed. Beyond Singh, only two other Dutch batsmen reached double figures. The innings was salvaged in part by Aryan Dutt, who came in at number nine and top-scored with a defiant 30. His resistance pushed the Netherlands into three figures before he was the last man dismissed.
Bangladesh’s chase never looked in doubt. Emon’s early aggression laid the foundation before Tanzid and Litton calmly steered the side home, sealing another emphatic win in front of an appreciative Sylhet crowd.
The final T20 of the series will be played on Wednesday, also at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, with Bangladesh aiming for a clean sweep while the Netherlands will look to salvage some pride.
