Delhi: England fast bowler Jamie Overton has decided to take a break from the red ball ie Test cricket for an indefinite time. England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) gave information about this on social media. Recently, overton was part of the England team in the Test series against India, but now he will focus only on only white ball i.e. ODI and T20 cricket.
Jamie Overton took a break from Test cricket
Overton said in a statement, “In today’s time, the demand for cricket has become very high throughout the year. In such a format, playing continuously in every format has become very challenging physically and mentally. Because of this I have decided to take a break from the red ball cricket.”
Jamie Overton has so far played a total of 20 international matches for England. This includes 2 Tests, 6 ODIs and 12 T20 matches. In the Test, he has also scored 106 runs along with taking 4 wickets. At the same time, he has 7 wickets in ODIs and 11 wickets in T20.
Overton performance in domestic cricket has been very good. He has played 99 First Class, 48 List A and 176 T20 matches so far. He has scored 239 wickets and 2410 runs in first class cricket. He has 64 wickets in List A, while in T20 cricket he has taken 129 wickets and has also scored 1683 runs.
