Sanjay Manjrekar recently spoke about his controversies involving Indian players like all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and pacer Mohammed Shami. He said that Jadeja took his bits and pieces comment the wrong way during the 2019 World Cup.

The 60-year-old claimed that he had no idea about Shami’s response to his opinion regarding his price in the IPL 2025. He mentioned that he no longer pays importance to those reactions.

“Jadeja misunderstood the bits and pieces comment, and Shami has no idea. Someone informed me that he reacted, but I’m not sure what his reaction was. I used to get affected earlier and tried to make things better, but it is like a Tsunami, and there is no way you can stop it,” he told Stalin Mathias.

“The best thing about these controversies is that they found something else to get upset about 48 hours later,” he added.

“I am not a big fan of bits and pieces players, which Jadeja is at this point in his career in 50-over cricket. In Test matches, he is a pure bowler. But in 50-over cricket, I would rather have a batsman and a spinner,” Manjrekar had said about Jadeja. The all-rounder also responded.

“Still, I have played twice the number of matches you have played, and I’m still playing. Learn to respect ppl who have achieved. I have heard enough of your verbal diarrhoea. @sanjaymanjrekar”

Manjrekar had also commented on Shami. “Teams will show interest in Mohammed Shami, but given his injuries and the recent one, he took time to recover, there is a possibility of a breakdown midway in the season. If a franchise buys him for a big amount and he is ruled out mid-season, the team would have limited options. This might lead to a drop in his price,” he said.

Shami didn’t like what Manjrekar said.

“Baba ki jay hoooooo. Thodasa gyan apne future k lie bhi bacha loo kaam ayega Sanjay G? Kisi ko future janna ho to sir se mile. (“You should save something for your future, as it will be useful, Sanjay G. If anyone wants to know about the future, meet Sir).”
