Earlier, he had said goodbye to international cricket in December last year. While taking farewell to the IPL, Ashwin had indicated that he will now find new opportunities in other franchise leagues of the world.
“Every end has a new beginning”
Announcing his retirement from the IPL, Ashwin had said, “It is a new beginning of every end. My time as an IPL cricketer is ending today, but my journey in various leagues is now starting.”
Name registered in ILT20 2026 auction
Providing his statement true, Ashwin has taken the next step. He has signed up for the International League T20 (LT20) 2026 auction to be played in UAE. This time the auction system will be adopted for the first time in the tournament. Earlier, the draft system was applicable. The auction will be held on 30 September 2025 in Dubai.
Ashwin said, “I have sent my name for the ILT20 auction. Hopefully I will find a buyer.”
Fourth Indian players will be
If Ashwin is elected, he will become the fourth Indian player to play in LT20. Prior to him, Robin Uthappa, Yusuf Pathan and Ambati Rayudu have become part of this league.
