Delhi: On Sunday, Zimbabwe’s veteran wicketkeeper batsman Brendon Taylor made a big achievement in international cricket. He completed 10,000 international runs during the second ODI against Sri Lanka and became the third player of the country to do so.
Taylor achieved this position by scoring 20 runs in 37 balls. The special thing is that he did not hit any four or six in this innings. In the first ODI, he was dismissed for zero. He has 10,009 runs in 320 innings of 287 international matches played so far. This includes 17 centuries, 57 half -centuries and the highest score of 171 runs.
With this achievement, Taylor has put himself in the category of Zimbabwe’s legendary batsmen Andy Flower and Grant Flower. Andy Flower scored 11,580 runs in 276 matches, while Grant Flower scored 10,028 runs in 288 matches.
Test Cricket: During 70 innings in 35 Tests, Taylor has scored 2,371 runs. His average has been 35.92, including 6 centuries and 12 half -centuries. His best score was 171 runs. He is Zimbabwe’s fourth most successful batsman in this format.
ODI Cricket: Taylor has scored 6,704 runs in 218 ODIs. His average has been 35.28. This includes 11 centuries and 39 half -centuries. His highest score is 145 unbeaten. He is Zimbabwe’s second biggest run scorer in ODIs.
T20 International: He has scored 934 runs in 45 T20I matches. His average has been 23.94 and he has scored 5 half -centuries. His highest score has remained unbeaten.
Brendon Taylor has recently returned to the team after three and a half years of suspension of ICC. This action was taken on him for violating the ICC anti-corruption code and an anti-doping code. He made a comeback in the second Test played against New Zealand earlier this month. He scored 44 and 7 runs in the Bulawayo Test.
