Delhi: Former Team India selector and current Delhi team coach Sarandeep Singh recalled the time when Virat Kohli returned to the Ranji Trophy this year. After a poor performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Kohli played a match against the railway for Delhi after about 12 years.

Tales to training

Sarandeep shared a funny anecdote on Taruwar Kohli’s YouTube channel. He told that “players were playing football during training. But everyone was giving only a pass to Virat. Anyone was avoiding going to him that his leg would not get hurt by mistake.”

He further said, “I went to the middle and stopped the game and said that Yash Dhul has been shouting, ball, then the players said- no, Virat is standing. Then Virat went to everyone, talked to everyone, talked to them and lightened the atmosphere.”

Opinion on retirement

On the retirement of Virat Kohli from Test cricket, Sarandeep said that he feels Kohli could play at least three more years. But he admitted that it is not easy to take the responsibilities of family and cricket along.

According to him, “When a person is married, the responsibility of family and children increases. Then your thinking also changes. You are not just a cricketer but also a family man. In such a situation, the decisions also get different.”

Player

Sarandeep also said that Virat Kohli does not play for records. If this were the case, he would not have become Virat Kohli today.
