Delhi: A new schedule has been released for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. This time Navi Mumbai has been included as a host city in place of Bengaluru. Now five matches of the tournament will be played at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai, including three league matches, one semi -finals and perhaps the finals. The change was made due to the non -availability of M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru due to a stampede during the celebration after the victory of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Venue changes due to dispute
Actually, the RCB team has been surrounded by controversy since winning the title of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Along with the team, their home ground, M Chinnaswamy Stadium are also caught in controversies. During the celebration of RCB’s victory, there was a stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium, in which 11 people died. This is the reason that hosting the Women’s World Cup has been taken away from the stadium.
ICC chairman Jai Shah said that the venue was changed due to the circumstances, but now the five places that have been decided are world class and will host women’s cricket.
The dates of the tournament will remain the same – from 30 September to 2 November. The rest of the venue are the same as before-ACA Stadium (Guwahati), Holkar Stadium (Indore), ACA-VDCA Stadium (Visakhapatnam) and R Premdasa Stadium (Colombo, Sri Lanka).
The final of the tournament will be held on 2 November in Colombo or Navi Mumbai. The first semi -finals will be played on 29 October in Guwahati or Colombo and the second semi -finals in Navi Mumbai on 30 October.
