Delhi: Indian middle order batsman Sarfaraz Khan scored a brilliant century on the first day of the Buhi Babu Trophy 2025. Sarfaraz has made a strong comeback after ignoring the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Test series against England. He completed 100 runs in just 92 balls against TNCA XI for Mumbai.
Batting at number 5, Sarfaraz played an aggressive game and also made a century partnership for the sixth wicket with Akash Parkar. However, after this, due to stretch and cramps in hamstring, he retired for 113 runs and had to leave the ground.
Sarfaraz’s great performance
Mumbai captain Ayush Mhatre and opener Mushir Khan were dismissed early. Ayush scored 13 and Mushir scored 30 runs. Suved Parkar, who came to bat at number three, played a good innings of 72 runs. However, Sarfaraz’s century proved to be the real turning point for the team and Mumbai achieved a strong position.
Expected to return to Indian Test team
Sarfaraz Khan did not get a place in the team for the recent Test series against England. However, he was part of the squad in the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, but could not play a single match. His last Test match was against New Zealand in which he scored 150 runs in the first Test. However, after this, he was able to score only 21 runs in the next four innings.
So far, Sarfaraz has played 6 Test matches for India and has scored 371 runs in 11 innings. His average has been 37.10. He also scored 92 runs against England for India A. His performance in the current domestic season can again give him a place in the Test team.
