Chennai Super Kings have clarified the controversy over the inclusion of Davold Brevis in the team in the middle of IPL 2025. Ravichandran Ashwin said that the franchise has done the deal by taking advantage of the rules, but CSK issued an official statement saying that everything happened completely according to the IPL regulations.
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) finally clarified their stand on discussions that the franchise was claimed that the franchise signed IPL rules while signing South Africa’s young Batter Davold Bravis. The matter caught up when Team India’s off -spinner Ravichandran Ashwin said on his YouTube channel that CSK used “Luphol” in a way to bring Bravis in the middle season and gave them more than the base price.
In the official statement released on Saturday, CSK made it clear that, “Dewold Bravis has been signed as a replacement player under Claus 6.6 of IPL Player Regulations 2025-27. It is completely in accordance with the League rules.”
In fact, Brevis was linked to the team for Rs 2.2 crore, which came as a replacement due to Gurjapneet Singh’s injury. Significantly, Gurjapneet was also purchased at the same price in the IPL 2025 auction. According to the rule, the replacement player can be signed on the same amount as he joined the player team, which he is replacing.
Ashwin claimed in his video that, “2-3 teams were talking for Brevis, but no franchise was ready to pay extra money. In such a situation, CSK took advantage of the opportunity and signed it as a demand.”
He further said that Brevis showed amazing game in the second half and with this CSK also corrected his team’s combination. Now they also have a purse of Rs 30 crore before the mini auction, so that he can prepare a dangerous squad.
In such a situation, it is clear from the official statement released by Chennai Super Kings that CSK’s signing was completely legal, due to which CSK’s confidence will increase even more in the coming season.
