New Delhi: Rohmalia Rohmalia etched her name in the history books as the 17-year-old recorded the best bowling figures in the history of T20 international cricket (men’s and women’s) on Thursday. Making her debut for Indonesia, Rohmalia bowled 3.2 overs, taking seven wickets and conceded no run against Mongolia. In fact, all the seven Mongolia batters whom Rohmalia dismissed were out for ducks. The match was a part of the bilateral series between Indonesia and Mongolia.
She is also the third bowler in women’s cricket to take seven wickets in a T20I game. Argentina’s Alison Stocks (7/3) and Netherlands’ Frederique Overdijk (7/3) took seven wickets in a T20I before Rohmalia. Among men, the best T20I figures belongs to Malaysia’s Syazrul Ezat Idrus, who took 7/8 against China last year.
As far as the game is concerned, Indonesia made 151/5 in 20 overs, thanks to opener Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini’s 61 off 44 balls. Hilva Noor (19), Rohmalia (13) and Ni Murtiari (13) also contributed with the bat for Indonesia. In reply, Mongolia were bundled out for just 24 runs in 16.2 overs. Meanwhile, Indonesia whitewashed Mongolia 5-0 in the series.
