Nonetheless, the veteran cricketer is determined to give his utmost effort and compete for a spot, according to Sky Sports. Cricket is finally returning to the Olympic stage after last featuring in 1900, making its long-awaited comeback after 128 years.

Smith has often shared his desire to compete for Australia in the Olympics. Although he will be 39 when the event arrives, he is still determined to compete for a spot on the podium and demonstrate his skills on the international stage.

“Making it to the Australian team for the Olympics in 2028 is one of my goals. The Australian T20 team is performing well right now, so it won’t be easy to get in. I just need to keep giving my best, and you never know what might happen,” Smith told Sky Sports.

“I’ve been watching the Olympics since I was a kid and always admired the Australian athletes. So when I heard cricket would be included, I thought it would be amazing to take part,” he added.
