Delhi: Australia’s star all -rounder Glenn Maxwell has said that he wants to bowl more in the powerplay in 2026, keeping in mind the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka. Maxwell believes that the new ball can help spinners, especially on the dry pitches of the subcontinent.

Maxwell says that the hard seam of the new ball helps to grip spin on dry pitches. He said, “I think the new ball can get more help as a spinner in the subcontinent. Hard seams on dry pitches help to hold the ball well, which can benefit the spinners.”

Surprising when you get wickets

At the style of taking my wicket, Maxwell laughed and said, “I am also surprised when I get a wicket. But I try to play my role in Powerplay well. My aim is to get the team a good start and keep pressure.”

Maxwell has taken 49 wickets in 123 matches so far in his T20 International career and his economy rate has been 8.17. In 2018, he gave 10 runs in Hobart against England with 3 wickets, which is his best figures so far.

Maxwell has been effective in powerplay

Glenn Maxwell has taken 17 wickets in Powerplay so far, which makes it clear that he can bowl effectively with the new ball. He has also been successful in this role in IPL. Since 2022, he has taken eight wickets from an economy of 7.30 in Powerplay.
