South Africa’s Dewald Brevis has rapidly ascended in the ICC T20I batting rankings following his extraordinary century in the second T20I against Australia. Brevis blasted a remarkable 41-ball hundred, enabling his team to set an imposing total of 218/7 after being asked to bat first.

His stunning innings of 125* off 56 balls, featuring 12 boundaries and eight sixes, earned him the Player of the Match award in South Africa‘s 53-run victory. This performance helped Brevis jump 80 spots to settle at 21st position with 614 rating points.

Brevis’ century was the second-fastest by a South African in T20Is, following David Miller’s record of 35 balls. It was the highest-ever score by a South African in T20I cricket, surpassing Faf du Plessis’ 119 against the West Indies in Johannesburg in 2015.

Brevis and Tristan Stubbs (31 off 22 balls) added 126 runs for the fourth wicket, making it the second-highest partnership for South Africa in T20l against Australia. Together, they powered South Africa to 218/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Australian bowlers Ben Dwarshius (2/24) and Glenn Maxwell (2/44) picked up two wickets apiece.

Australia’s chase was derailed as they were bowled out for 165 in just 17.4 overs. Tim David top-scored for his side with a blistering 50 from 24 balls. However, Corbin Bosch (3/20) and Kwena Maphaka (3/57) claimed three wickets each, steering South Africa to a series-levelling win.

In the latest rankings, India’s Tilak Varma climbed to second place with 804 rating points, while Tim David surged up six spots to break into the top ten after back-to-back half-centuries.
