The all-rounder Hardik Pandya will undergo a fitness test at BCCI’s CoE in Bengaluru, while Shreyas Iyer has completed his test.
With the Asia Cup 2025 set to begin next month, multiple Indian players have either already checked in at the National Cricket Academy or are scheduled to do so ahead of the continental tournament.
Hardik Pandya who is an integral part of the India’s white-ball setup, has took a short break since the conclusion of IPL 2025 but already commenced training a month ago.
According to reports, Pandya is set to undergo a fitness assessment on August 11 and 12. The all-rounder took to Instagram on Sunday to share a story with a caption, “A short trip to the NCA.”
Meanwhile, it is understood that Shreyas Iyer has completed his fitness test between July 27 and 29.
Iyer has featured in T20I in 2023 and is set to return for the side for Asia Cup 2025 as the selectors feels that the side needed a depth in the middle order.
Despite remaining out of favour of the national performances, Iyer managed to turn the tide and impress them with consistent performances in domestic tournaments and the IPL.
Another reports stated that, the T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav is expected to take at least one more week to recover completely.
He underwent a sports hernia surgery earlier in June and has checked into the NCA in Bengaluru last week as he commenced his preparation to make his comeback. The selectors are expected to name a preliminary squad for Asia Cup 2025 very soon.
“It is learnt that Surya is expected to spend another week at the NCA to regain full fitness under the watchful eyes of the physios and medical team,” the report stated.
India will begin their Asia Cup campaign against UAE on September 10 at Dubai International Stadium.
