Rahul was eventually acquired by Delhi Capitals (DC) for the 2025 season. During the last IPL season, the right-handed batter scored 539 runs in 13 matches.
Former cricketer Dodda Ganesh has criticised the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for leaving out their former captain, KL Rahul, from a photo album posted on X, following the conclusion of the recent five-match series between India and England, which ended in a 2-2 draw. The 52-year-old accused the Super Giants’ social media team of neglecting Rahul, who had an impressive performance, scoring over 500 runs during the series.
Rahul secured the third spot for the most runs in the series, accumulating 532 runs across 10 innings, which included two centuries and two half-centuries. He was only outperformed by India’s captain, Shubman Gill (754 runs), and former England captain, Joe Root (537 runs).
“A photo album for the ages,” LSG posted on X.
Ganesh responded to the post.
“This is getting embarrassing. Couldn’t get a picture of an opener who played the new ball and scored 500+ runs.”
The controversy deepened when LSG shared a post on X that failed to mention Rahul. The franchise had previously made the decision not to retain Rahul ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, despite him having captained the team for the first three seasons (2022-2024). Sanjiv Goenka, the owner of LSG, made a controversial comment about Rahul’s omission. Rahul was eventually acquired by Delhi Capitals (DC) for the 2025 season.
