Delhi: Indian opener KL Rahul became emotional during the Manchester Test remembering his newborn daughter Ivarah. He told that it was not easy for him to visit England for this important Test series and leave his family behind.
Rahul and his wife Athiya Shetty became the parents of a daughter in March 2025. Two days later, Rahul had to play in the IPL. He told that in whatever brakes received during the IPL, he kept trying to meet the daughter. But, when he had to come to England to play a practice match from India A to prepare for the Test series, this decision was very difficult.
During a conversation with Cheteshwar Pujara on Soni Sports, Rahul said, “I have always liked the children and I wanted a child myself. The arrival of the daughter has brought great happiness in our life. But, it was very difficult to leave her behind.”
Baby monitor support to see daughter
Rahul said that while staying in England, he keeps looking at his daughter’s pictures and keeps an eye on the baby monitor so that she does not miss the moments of her growing up. He said, “I keep his camera on every day. I try not to leave any moment of growth. But, it is very difficult to stay away from him every day due to the game.”
Rahul thanked his wife Athiya and family and said that he supported him in this difficult time and understood how important this series is for his career.
KL Rahul has performed brilliantly in this series so far. He has scored a total of 421 runs including two centuries and has played an important role in Team India’s batting.
