RCB made a big mistake by dropping Chahal from their team – De Villiers

Delhi: South African team's great batsman AB de Villiers said that he does not see much loss in the 'Impact Player' rule during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. As far as batting is concerned, this season of IPL has been excellent. . With scores of 200-250 being scored so easily, many players have questioned the 'Impact Player' rule.

On Wednesday, 40-year-old AB de Villiers said on his YouTube channel, “At the moment it is a batsman's game. They are having a feast and it doesn't help that the wickets have been incredibly good in the IPL, when it (Impact Player) was introduced I was excited. “It’s too early for me to say, but I personally don’t see much harm from it.”

Earlier, former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma had strongly criticized the Impact Player rule. He believed that this rule would ruin Indian cricket.

Additionally, the Proteas batsman opened up on star leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal's exit from the franchise in 2021 and called it a 'heartbreaking moment'. Chahal has been playing for Rajasthan Royals (RR) since 2022 and recently became the first bowler to take 200 IPL wickets against Mumbai Indians on Monday.

Regarding Chahal, he said, “RCB let him go. It was a heart breaking moment. He was an important part there and was also their best bowler. It was crazy that he was kicked out of that franchise. It is not easy to see Yuji taking 200 wickets. He is not a part of RCB.”

Chahal's IPL performance

Let us tell you that in 153 matches, Chahal has taken 200 wickets at an average of 21.37, with the best bowling performance of 5/40. He has taken four wickets six times and five wickets once during his IPL career. Chahal played for Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) before joining Rajasthan Royals in 2022, while he did not take any wicket for MI in the only match. The right-arm spinner took 139 wickets in 113 matches for RCB. Now for RR he has taken 61 wickets in 39 matches.
