Delhi: Star wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant will be available for batting despite injury in the fourth match of the five matches being played between India and England in Manchester. However, they will not appear in the role of wicketkeeper. In such a situation, Dhruv Jurael will take over the responsibility of gloves behind the wicket. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed this.

The BCCI said that if the team needs Pant, only then they will enter the field for batting.

Pant had to go out of the field

During the ongoing Test match between India and England, Team India suffered a major setback when Rishabh Pant got hurt during batting. Pant was playing for 37 runs in the 68th over of India’s first innings. He tried to play a reverse sweep shot against England fast bowler Chris Woakes, but the ball went straight to his right foot shoes. As soon as the ball started, Pant was seen groaning with pain.

Pant out of the field under the supervision of physio

Due to serious injury, Pant immediately removed his gloves and the physio was called to the field. After first aid, he was taken out of the field with the help of golf cart. His injury put everyone in worry, as he was batting in good rhythm.

Pant retired Hurt, Jadeja and Shardul handled the innings

Due to injury, Pant was declared a retired heart for 37 runs and Ravindra Jadeja came on the field to bat. After this, Jadeja (19) and Shardul Thakur (19) took over the innings and by the end of the day’s play, India had scored 264 runs at the loss of 4 wickets.
