Delhi: Former Indian team cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar believes that 'champion' bowler Kuldeep Yadav should definitely get a chance in the Indian team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, because his excellent form continued in the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Kuldeep once again performed brilliantly in a high-scoring match, thanks to which Delhi Capitals (DC) secured two important points against Gujarat Titans (GT) at their home ground on Wednesday.

The left-arm chinaman bowler took two wickets for 29 runs in his four overs and DC eventually won the match by 4 runs. Regarding selection for the T20 World Cup, Manjrekar feels that Kuldeep has confirmed his place in the team. Speaking to Star Sports, the former player said that Kuldeep is currently at his peak as a bowler, just like Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal.

Manjrekar also feels that Kuldeep is comfortable in taking responsibility and brings significant success to his team. The famous commentator said that Kuldeep should be the second spinner after Ravindra Jadeja.

Sanjay Manjrekar, 58, said, “Yes and perhaps this Kuldeep Yadav is at his peak in terms of his skills, his confidence. Now you can see that he is like a Bumrah or Chahal at his peak. He is getting that kind of respect. He looks comfortable with it. Responsibility and champions are the good options you are looking for at the right time.”

He further said, “Today (Wednesday) in the last over, DC needed a wicket. He got the wicket of Tewatia there and took control of the match, so Kuldeep has now become a champion bowler. Ravindra Jadeja will come as the left-arm spinner batsman and Kuldeep will come as the second spinner.

Kuldeep Yadav's performance in IPL 2024

With his performance against GT, Kuldeep has now moved up to fourth position in the Purple Cap standings. In 6 matches, he has taken 12 wickets at an average of 15.25 and economy rate of 7.62. Delhi Capitals will play their next match against Mumbai Indians on 27 April.
