Virat Kohli’s T20I rating point has increased to 909 in the ICC’s new all -time ranking update. With this, he has become the first cricketer to get 900+ ratings in all three formats. This update was due to the algorithm in exchange for ICC.
Delhi: India’s legendary batsman Virat Kohli played his last T20 International match against South Africa on 29 June 2024 in Brijtown. This means that it has been more than a year, they played T20 International matches. So now, there is no meaning to change Virat Kohli’s players ranking in T20 International, but the truth is that even after retiring, Virat’s ranking has changed.
According to the new ICC’s new all -time T20 International rankings, Virat Kohli’s T20 International career, the highest rating point at some point was 909 and a big record came to his name as soon as this new list came. Now he has become the only batsman to cross the 900 point count in the ICC rankings in all three formats of cricket. Before the arrival of this new list, their maximum T20I rating points were 897. He is now number 3 in batting in the ICC all -time T20I rankings and only Suryakumar Yadav (912) and David Malan (919) of England achieved more rating points from him.
Although he has also achieved 937 rating points in Test cricket, but due to not touching 900 point count in T20, he did not have a record of 900 points in all three formats. His top score in rating point is 909 in ODIs. Therefore, he has got another major support for the claim of considering him a top batsman in all three formats of cricket. Now there is talk of considering him to be the best all-format batsman. Now they only play ODI. Counting 900 rating points for Indian players can be called magical and there are not much to reach this count:
In the test: Virat Kohli, Sunil Gavaskar
In ODI: Virat Kohli
In T20 E: Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav
Now it will be a puzzle that how did the ICC increase the top rating point of Virat Kohli, while making a new list of the Slight T20 batting rankings, even though they are not playing these days? Believe that a Romanian international player’s own spectacular performance is most responsible for this change.
These 909 rating points played against England in Edgbaston on 7 September 2024, came to his name in T20 International. Then he had scored 66 runs off 41 balls with 9 fours and 1 six, but India’s team lost the match by 3 runs. After this match, 897 points were written in his name.
Everyone knows that from the day the ICC has started the process of ranking from computer, many times questions have been raised on the formula of this calculation. However, since the same formula was in force for all, it was not much tossed to the issue. T20 cricket is completely different from both other formats and especially the increase in the count of its international match team became more important for the performance level of the performance.
The record shows that Romania’s Rebecca Black is a ‘Great’ player as he has a 107.71 average in 13 T20 International and 754 runs with two 100 and five 50 from 132+ strike rates. Also, there is no 8 wickets at an average of 23.62 and the economy rate is not 6. The thing to note here is that these records were made in the match played against the team like Greece, Isle of Man, Luxembourg, Serbia and Malta, not in matches against any top team. With this performance, they will top the rating and if it is to be stopped, then change the algorithm.
This clearly means that the method of calculation of rating points has to be changed. The ICC now did the same and assumed that the difficulties that are coming from the beginning of the T20 International rankings will have to be abolished. Therefore, the rating points of Virat Kohli increased, they are due to the newly adopted algorithm by the ICC.
Here Gordon Vince, who first thought about the computer ranking, adopted their methods initially and later made changes) and it is also necessary to mention his friend Rob East Away. Both of them have been making their private ranking till date and there is a big difference between them and the ICC T20 rankings. This also inspired the ICC to change the algorithm. The ICC did the same and the new update formula changed the ranking of all the players. Another example is that David Warner got 68 points.
