Harbhajan Singh has come out in support of Karun Nair and reminded the team management that the right-handed batter should get more chances, like Shubman Gill and KL Rahul. Karun has managed just 131 runs in 6 innings at an average of 22. His spot is under the scanner, and there is a possibility of him getting dropped for the fourth Test against England.

“Karun Nair should be persisted with despite not scoring runs. All the players deserve a long run. Karun deserves it now. Shubman Gill and KL Rahul were backed in the past,” Harbhajan Singh said.

Nair returned to the Test side after 8 years. He scored 863 runs in nine Ranji Trophy games for Vidarbha. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Nair amassed 779 runs in eight innings, laced with five centuries.

Harbhajan mentioned that dropping Sai Sudharsan after one Test was not justified, but now Nair has gotten three games, the management should continue with him.

“The criteria should be same for everyone. If others got five or sixes chances, than what is the crime of Karun Nair? Sai Sudharsan should have got more matches but now that you have gone in with Karun, then play him in the remaining matches,” he added.
