Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) held its annual conference in Singapore on Sunday. During this time several important decisions were taken, including the upcoming hosting of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final to the support of women players of Afghan origin and inclusion of new members.

England hosts WTC final for three consecutive times

The ICC has handed over the rights to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to host WTC finals 2027, 2029 and 2031. Earlier, the England WTC final has been successfully hosting, keeping this decision taken in mind.

Namibia will be the first ODI World Cup co-worker

The responsibility of hosting the ODI World Cup to be held in 2027 is jointly assigned to Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe. This will be the first time Namibia will host an ICC global tournament.

Special initiative for women cricketers of Afghan origin

The ICC has launched a special support program for women cricketers of Afghanistan. Under this initiative, players are being provided opportunities for cricket and personal development. The event is being conducted under the leadership of ICC Vice President Imran Khwaja, in collaboration with BCCI, ECB and Cricket Australia.

The objective of this scheme is to prepare the players for high performance training, participation in domestic competitions and the Women’s Cricket World Cup to be held in India in the year 2025 and the women’s T20 World Cup to be held in England in 2026.

Two new members joined ICC

The number of member countries of ICC has now increased to 110. The Timor-Less Cricket Federation and the Zambia Cricket Association have been formally given the status of Associate Member of ICC.
