Team India’s aggressive wicketkeeper-batter, Rishabh Pant, has been consistently attacking with the bat on the England tour, and his batting style is distinctly different from that of the other players. He has already scored 3 centuries in this Test series. However, despite such performances, former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Farokh Engineer has raised questions about Pant’s batting and even issued a warning.
In fact, commenting on Pant’s unorthodox shots and his six-hitting ability, Farokh said that Rishabh should save such shots for the IPL. Test cricket demands discipline, and from batsmen playing at number three or four, you expect proper cricket — building an innings and scoring big runs.
Interestingly, Farokh seems to have overlooked the fact that Pant does not bat at number 3 or 4, but actually bats at number 5.
