Australia women’s team captain Alyssa Healy said that she missed Virat Kohli’s presence on Day 5 of the third Test between India and England at Lord’s. She mentioned that the 36-year-old Indian player would have liked the situation on the last day of the contest.

Kohli retired from the longest format before the England tour. “I missed Virat Kohli’s presence on Day 5 of the Lord’s Test. He would have liked the hostile enviornment while trying to save the game. He would have loved to be a part of that Test. Ravindra Jadeja tried his best,” Healy said on the Willow Talk podcast.

Earlier, former England captain Nasser Hussain had made a similar comment, saying that India need a new Virat Kohli as the old one has retired.

Virat was one of the best batters in red-ball cricket and loved chasing targets. He was never under pressure while going for runs and led India to victories in bilateral Test series outside the sub-continent. His last series was the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.

Meanwhile, Ben Stokes was named the Player of the Match. Alyssa Healy hailed his second innings bowling performance. He bowled 24 overs and took three wickets.

“Ben Stokes is a warrior. He bowled 24 overs in the last innings,” she added.
