IND vs ENG Highlights: India’s hopes of clinching a famous victory at Lord’s were dashed on the final day of the third Test, as England held their nerve to register a tense 22-run win and take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. Despite a valiant effort from Ravindra Jadeja (61), India fell short in their chase of 193, ending an intense battle at the home of cricket.
India, chasing a target of 193, were reeling at 112/8 by the end of the first session. From that dire position, a remarkable resistance followed, spearheaded by Ravindra Jadeja’s determined half-century.
He was ably supported by No. 10 Jasprit Bumrah and No. 11 Mohammed Siraj, who displayed incredible grit and defiance against England’s bowling attack.
The trio dragged the game deep into the final session, keeping India’s hopes flickering. However, just when it seemed the tide might turn, Siraj was dismissed in unfortunate fashion in the 75th over, ending India’s innings at 170 all out, and falling 22 runs short of what would have been a historic chase.
India endured a disastrous start to Day 5 of the high-stakes third Test at Lord’s, losing three key wickets in under 40 minutes.
Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Washington Sundar all fell in quick succession during the opening session, pushing India into serious trouble and putting their hopes of back-to-back Test wins in England under immense threat.
Jofra Archer delivered a fiery spell with the ball, dismissing Pant with a delivery that jagged in sharply and then pulling off a spectacular catch to send Sundar packing. The pressure kept mounting as KL Rahul fell soon after, trapped by a sharp piece of thinking from England skipper Ben Stokes, who nailed a timely DRS review to get the decision in his team’s favour.
After KL Rahul’s dismissal, Washington Sundar followed soon after, departing for a duck. Nitish Kumar Reddy tried to steady the innings with some resistance, but his stay at the crease was cut short by Chris Woakes, who got him out for 13.
Despite the top and middle order collapsing, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj stepped up with valuable support for Ravindra Jadeja, helping India inch closer to what would have been a famous chase at Lord’s.
However, just as India neared the finish line, a cruel twist of fate saw Siraj dismissed under unfortunate circumstances, ending the dream. With that wicket, England clinched a dramatic victory and took a 2-1 lead in the five-match Test series.
