What’s red day at Lord’s: The third match of Anderson Tendulkar Trophy 2025 is very special for both teams. The third Test match between India and England is being played at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London from 10 July. The second day of this Test match was quite different. Where the red heart mark was seen on the collar of Indian captain Shubman Gill and fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah’s jersey. Discussion about this has intensified.

Actually, a different view was seen on Lord’s Cricket Ground. From the ground to the stands, there was red color everywhere. Players from both India and England were seen in the red cap, the names on their jersey were also red. So know what was the reason behind this.

Why was the red color in Lord’s on the second day?

During the ongoing third Test match at Lord’s Cricket Ground, the entire stadium was painted in red on 11 July. It was not just a color of fashion or team color, but a very special and a emotional way of paying tribute to the Ruth Strauss Foundation under a very special and human initiative.

‘Red for Ruth’ is a special initiative to be held every year in the memory of the late wife Ruth of former England captain Sir Andrew Strauss. Ruth died due to cancer. The purpose of celebrating this day is to help the families who are facing a serious disease or condition like cancer to either of the parents. This initiative not only provides financial assistance, but also stands mentally and emotionally with the victims.

Players were wearing a red hat

This year is the seventh edition of ‘Red for Ruth’ and now it has become an important part of English Summer cricket. The players wore a red cap, the name on the jersey was printed in red and some had a heart symbol on the jerseys, which symbolized support for this mission. A special ceremony was also held before the match started, in which Ruth was paid tribute.

At the ground level outside the Lord’s Cricket Ground, volunteers sold #RedForruth Hat and gave Ruth daily to the donors. The campaign has so far helped more than 3,500 families and trained more than 1,000 cancer care experts.
